Community Based Victim Services - Domestic Violence Unit

The Domestic Violence Unit Specialized program provides services to victims and witnesses of power-based crime, including sexualized violence, gender-based violence,and intimate partner violence assisting them to navigate the criminal justice system, including support with immediate Family Law Protection Orders and referrals to family law resources and other systems and works to assess each referral and apply the appropriate response within all relevant policies and procedures.

The caseworker will provide individual support, advocacy, court orientation related to criminal proceedings where they are the victim, court and appointment accompaniment, assistance with necessary forms and referrals/information regarding other services in the community. This program works in coordination with RCMP, Interagency Case Assessment Team (ICAT), and Police Based Victim Services. This program supports individuals of all genders and is grounded in inclusive, client-centered practice.
