If you want to talk about your situation, trained staff members are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

To speak to one of our counsellors please call 250-763-1040.

If you are in an unhealthy, violent or abusive relationship, you may feel confused, angry, frightened, trapped, guilty, or any number of other emotions. Often it is helpful to simply talk about your feelings and situation with someone who is objective and knowledgeable. A counsellor can help you to sort out your feelings.  They can give you information about common dynamics of abusive relationships and about services and resources that are available at the Shelter and in the community.  They can provide an opportunity for you to discuss your options and alternatives as you try to determine what you will do next.

If you feel that you need to come to stay at the Shelter for a time, a staff person will complete a brief phone assessment with you to determine if this is the best option for you.  They will assist you to make a plan so that you can leave as safely as possible.  If you need local transportation to assist you in leaving, a staff person can arrange this for you.
