Donate Items
All of the items that are donated to the Shelter every year are put to good use. Here are some guidelines for people wishing to donate second hand items.
Gently used clothing and household items:
We appreciate these items being delivered to the Kelowna Women's Shelter Thrift Store at 527 Lawrence Avenue in downtown Kelowna. Please phone the thrift store at 250-762-8561 before dropping off items, to ensure that they can be accommodated at that time. The store hours are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm. The staff and volunteers at the store will sort the items. Items that are needed at the Shelter will be brought back. Our clients are able to receive items that they need free of charge. All proceeds from sales are used to support the services of the Shelter. We regret that we are not usually able to provide pickup of donations.

Furniture:
The Kelowna Women's Shelter Thrift Store accepts some furniture items, depending on available space. Most furniture items will need to be delivered to the store by the donor. It is recommended that donors with furniture items contact the store prior to delivery by calling 762-8561 to ensure that there is enough space at the time of delivery.
You can also call the Women's Shelter to let the staff know that you have furniture to give away. The staff will keep note of your items and contact information, and let you know if any of the clients may be in need of items you have available. However, the Shelter is not able to provide transportation for furniture items and does not accept responsibility for agreements between donors and clients that are not followed through.
Note: The Thrift Store cannot accept certain types of computer/electronic equipment, beds, hide-a-beds or certain types of baby furniture such as cribs.
Donations of New Items/Items from Businesses
Do you have a store or other type of business that would like to donate new items to the Shelter? Business donations of new items are usually accepted directly at the Shelter and are very helpful in stretching our budget. Some types of new items are also eligible for tax receipts (usually those that are used within the day to day operation of the Shelter). Please call the Shelter at 250-763-1040 and the staff will help you to make arrangements for the items. We are sometimes able to provide pickup of these types of items.
