Volunteer:
There are a variety of ways to volunteer with a wide range of time commitments. Areas of involvement for volunteers include:
- Special Events and Projects
- Creativity Room Assistant
- Childcare and Arts/Crafts
- Housekeeping and Gardening
- Thrift Store
- Shelter Holiday Parties
- Administration/Shelter Support
Regardless of the area of volunteering for the Shelter you are considering we want you to know that you can expect certain things from us such as:
- A safe and clean environment to work in.
- To be treated with respect and that you will feel valued in your position with the Shelter.
- That any information that you share with staff will be kept confidential and that this is a safe place to be yourself.
- That ideas and suggestions will be heard and may if possible be implemented.
- Opportunities to learn new skills when appropriate.
Our volunteers know that they are:
- Making a difference.
- Promoting non-violence in a concrete way.
- Giving something of value to the community of Kelowna.
- Creating opportunity for personal growth and reflection.
- Enriching the lives of women and children flleeing abuse.
- Helping the Shelter staff to make life better for the Shelter residents!
